My name is Christine Campbell and I am the Owner and Primary Pet Care Provider at VetPro Pet Care.
VetPro Pet Care was started in Vermont in 2013. The business relocated with me to the Seacoast in 2014. I now live in Berwick, Maine with my boyfriend and two cats, Tatsu and Mack. <cute pictures below>
I am a former Certified Veterinary Technician who has had a love for animals since a very early age. I jumped at the chance to begin my professional career with animals in 1998 as a Kennel Assistant at a small veterinary clinic. With training and education, I eventually became a Veterinary Technician capable of providing advanced medical care for pets. I am fortunate to have worked for excellent – and in some cases very cutting-edge – clinics in Manhattan, northern New Jersey, upstate New York, Vermont and on the Jersey shore.
As a Vet Tech, pet care requests from hospital clients came my way frequently. Many clients had pets with “special needs” such as multiple medications, subcutaneous fluids, or insulin injections. For most of these pets, “medical boarding” at a veterinary clinic would be the only option for their care. While their pet would receive great medical care that way, most veterinary hospitals are not set up to be the ideal boarding situation. Their pet would most likely be trapped in a kennel for a majority of the day.
That is stressful… And boring… zzz…
Owners of these pets were put at ease knowing a trained medical professional would be providing top-notch care and keeping a watchful eye on their pets – all in the comfort of their own home.
This naturally became something I enjoyed doing on the side. It was the perfect opportunity to provide companionship for the lonely pets while their owners were away, while helping them avoid a potentially stressful boarding situation.
Little did I know that this “side business” would be something that I would grow to love.
My decision to start a Professional Pet Care business was solidified when I began working in Vermont. We boarded many animals at our hospital – sometimes more than 70 at once! My job was to oversee the kennel staff, and attend to any concerns with the boarding animals.
Unfortunately, there were many.
A large percentage of pets become stressed in a kennel situation, and a variety of medical issues can arise as a result of that stress. I saw in-home pet care as a solution to this problem – and VetPro Pet Care was born!
Now, I am so lucky to have the opportunity to engage with so many pets and provide stress-free care for them in their own homes. It makes me so happy when Clients comment on the dramatic difference they see in their pet’s behavior after they are cared for at home, rather than in a kennel environment.
I have committed myself to lifelong learning as a Veterinary Technician and strive to provide the best service possible for all of the animals in my care. I have recently developed a passion for helping pets heal using natural treatments, which I share on my blog and on my Facebook page. I love sharing my pet care knowledge with others, so their pets can live long, healthy lives.
My advanced knowledge of pet health makes me the perfect person to care for your pets in your absence.
